Swimming teaching and coaching are active and challenging roles demanding special skills and commitment. But what qualities make a good teacher / coach?

Continued learning and adaptation – continual professional development (CPD) sessions are a key part of any teacher / coach. Only teachers / coaches who have attended a minimum of 3 CDP courses will be included on this site.

Keep lessons interesting, fun, challenging and appropriate to the level they are dealing with.

Share and find good practice by continuously updating their knowledge

Be fully qualified - Only teachers / coaches who have appropriate nationally recognised qualifications from the NGB will be included on this site.

Be safe and have appropriate insurance coverage - Only teachers / coaches with appropriate insurance cover can advertise on this site.

Keep records of all lessons in diary or log book form.

Be multi-skilled – it makes sense that to make yourself more employable you should have the ability to cope with whatever is thrown at them
